FAQ
What do you photograph?
I photograph lifestyle family sessions, engagement/couple’s sessions, personal branding headshots, and editorial portraits. If you’re not sure whether your photography needs fall under one of these categories, shoot me an email describing what you’re looking for, and I can let you know whether or not we can make it work. I do not photograph events or weddings.
Where are you located?
I have home bases in both New York City and Dutchess County. I serve the five boroughs, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Rockland, and Sullivan counties, as well as parts of New Jersey, Connecticut, and Long Island. I am also always willing to travel further afield, so let me know where you’re located and we’ll see if we can make it happen.
Do you have a studio?
I do not at this time. Most family sessions take place in my clients’ homes or neighborhoods, or in nearby green spaces. For business headshots and personal branding sessions, I prefer to work in your shop, office, or another location that is meaningful to your work.
How far in advance should we book?
Generally you should book your session 3-6 weeks in advance. Spring and fall are particularly busy times. Winter is usually slower, and I can often accommodate last minute inquiries. I only take a certain number of sessions each month, so I can give each client the best experience possible and still have time for my own family life.
How long have you been a photographer?
I opened my business in late 2008, and by the end of 2009, I was working full time as a photographer. I started out as a family photographer, before switching to weddings and elopements in 2010. In 2017, I made the pivot back to families and portraiture, and that is currently my focus.
What is your turnaround time?
48 hours after your session, you will receive a small sneak peek of a few images. The full gallery will be delivered within four weeks of your session date.
What can we expect from our session?
Silliness. Lots and lots of silliness. I truly want you and your family to enjoy your portrait experience. I think if you’ve perused my portfolio, you probably know stiff, formal portraiture is not my thing. I want to capture you and your family as you really are at this moment in time, and the best way to do that is by capturing a mix of relaxed portraits and candids. That means there will be times when I am a little more involved - asking you and your family to sit or stand in a certain position, and times when I’m a little more hands off, letting chaos reign. I might ask you all to squeeze together and hug, look at a specific family member, walk or run toward me. Crying kids? Toddlers sitting down and taking off the pretty shoes you’ve picked out for the session? Teenagers too cool to smile? I’ve seen it all and worked through it all. We will roll with it and make any scenario work. And while I do always try to get that classic portrait of everyone looking right at the camera smiling, I’m also really interested in all the in between moments that come before and after.
